The Social Studies of Economics (SSE) examines the role of economists, economic knowledge, and the discipline itself in society. The Institute for Comprehensive Analysis of the Economy has been a hotspot in establishing this young and interdisciplinary field over the last decade. See here and here.

Against the backdrop of recent political-economic upheavals—from the end of neoliberalism as a policy paradigm to the rise of regressive ideologies and debates on socio-ecological transformation—we ask: How can SSE address and analyze these developments?

We invite contributions from different disciplinary fields such as Science Studies, Political Economy, Economic Sociology and/or Heterodox Economics exploring questions such as (amongst others):
* To what extent do we face the end or yet another crisis of neoliberalism and neoliberal economic reasoning?
* How does economic reasoning relate to the rise of regressive ideologies?
* What role do economists and economic expertise play in socio-ecological transformation debates?
* How are power dynamics and marginalization within economics shifting?
